Sitao Announces 2010 Program |
|
Sitao's 2010 program - Present of Future End - examines the increasing isolation faced by members of society in the early 21st century. Computers, cell phones, email and game consoles have become such fixtures in our lives that we forget the importance of face-to-face interaction with other human beings. We substitute email for conversation, Facebook threads for coffee house discussions, and emoticons for heart-felt smiles. But it is the touch of a friend, the smile of a stranger, the laughter of an innocent child, or the hug from a loved one that enriches our lives and adds the palettes of color to the bland and ordinary. Those cherished moments of human interaction are the colorful threads that make us who we truly are.
The program is set to Present of Future End by Most Serene Republic.
The principal designer for this year’s program is Mr. Travis Estler. Additional design team members and instructors included: Craig Woskolube, Leah Tennenbaum, Holly Fite, and Mike Simaska. The unit is under the direction of Mr. Brian T. Schell. Natalie Simaska is the 2010 unit captain.

WOW! What a great start for the 2010 season. The auditions for
the new season saw the best turnout of potential members in the history of the
organization. Many people traveled several hours to participate in the
selection process, and there was an impressive cross-section of talent from
everyone. The entire staff was on hand to take performers through a
typical day for the indoor unit that included stretching, dance/movement, flag
block, and weapon block. Everyone was also treated to their first exposure
of "Travis" work as they learned the opening flag ensemble statement
for the Open Guard.
The large amount of interest this year will undoubtedly mean that The Sitao
Foundation for the Performing Arts, Inc. will be looking to put an Open Guard
and an A Guard on the floor for the 2010 season. That means that there is
still plenty of time for interested people to get involved. Open
auditions will continue through mid-December or until all spots are filled for
the two groups. It is going to be a great year to part of the Sitao
family. Please come join us!
